The Most Unlikely Coincidences In History That Aren't In Any Of The Textbooks

Coincidences happen all the time. Like when you bump into a friend you haven't seen since childhood halfway across the world, or when that dress you'd been meaning to buy just happens to pop up on sale. But these events aren't so very unusual — they're bound to happen, appearing out of the ordinary only to those experiencing them.

Some coincidences, however, go so beyond the limits of possibility that they appear to have been controlled by fate... or by some supernatural presence. Here are the most unlikely coincidences of all time, and most of them don't appear in any history textbooks.

1. Swapping flights

In 2014 Dutch cyclist Maarten de Jonge dodged the biggest bullet of his life — or so he thought — when he supposedly changed his flight to an earlier option. He claims that his original plane turned out to be Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, an aircraft missing to this day.

Happening again

However, lightning apparently struck twice because later that year, Maarten reportedly switched flights again — this time in order to save money. The plane he claims he was supposed to get on ended up crash-landing in Ukraine!

2. Eeerie similarities

Two of America's most revered presidents, Lincoln and Kennedy, share a number of eerie similarities. Both were assassinated by bullet wounds to the head on a Friday, and each death occurred in the company of their wives...

It doesn’t stop there

But there's more. The two presidents also each had a vice president with the surname Johnson and a friend named Billy Graham. Perhaps JFK was a reincarnated Lincoln — the world may never know.
