Honey Boo Boo's Incredible Transformation Is Drawing Attention From Across The Globe

Most child stars aren't exactly accustomed to the spotlight — Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, however, was practically born for it. The sassy southern starlet took the world by storm with her outrageous antics and snappy catchphrases, quickly rising through the ranks to become one of reality TV's biggest names. Yet the superstardom wouldn't last for young Alana, and in the wake of her show's abrupt cancellation, "Honey Boo Boo" has undergone a drastic transformation that's left fans completely blown away.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Of course, way back in 2014, no one could've seen the sudden end of the "Honey Boo Boo" empire coming. One of TLC's most-watched reality programs, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was all set to debut its fifth season before producers made a shocking discovery about one of the show's stars.

Poor Judgment

Alana's mother, "Mama June" Shannon, had been reportedly dating a man named Mark McDaniel, who turned out to be a convicted child molester. And if that wasn't bad enough, it was soon revealed that McDaniel's victim had actually been Mama June's eldest daughter, Anna "Chickadee" Shannon, who was just eight years old at the time.

Blindsided

TLC cancelled the show almost immediately, leaving the entire fifth season unreleased — and Honey Boo Boo without an audience for the first time since age five. Alana actually had no idea why the cameras had suddenly disappeared from her life, with Mama June telling her the network simply "stopped filming the show."

More Than a Publicity Stunt

But the eight-year-old's time outside the spotlight didn't last long, as just a year later she appeared alongside her mother on the daytime health talk show The Doctors. Yet unbeknownst to Alana, this wasn't a publicity appearance: it was an intervention.
