Aaron Rodgers Exposes Behind-The-Scenes 'Jeopardy' Details

For decades, there were secrets about Jeopardy! that only Alex Trebek knew — and he wasn't telling a soul. But a number of guests hosts have taken on the hosting job since his passing, including Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. With excitement bubbling up inside him, the football star couldn't help but spill some information on what really happens behind the scenes, and why he really might become the next full-time host.

Guest Host

The NFL star's turn behind the podium came at a difficult time for many Jeopardy! fans, as Rodgers was among a number of guest hosts slated to fill in in the wake of Alex Trebek's tragic passing. But for Rodgers, this wasn't just some random side-gig in the offseason.

Jeopardy! Superfan

A huge fan of the show, the quarterback actually appeared on an episode of Celebrity Jeopardy! back in 2015, defeating Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary and astronaut / future U.S. senator Mark Kelly for a $50,000 charity prize. The proceeds from his two-week hosting gig were also slated for charity, though Rodgers admitted his Jeopardy! stint was about more than just raising money.

Could Make It Work

"They film 46 days a year. I worked 187 this year in Green Bay. That gives me, eh — 178 days to do 'Jeopardy!' So I feel like I could fit 46 into that 178 and make it work," Rodgers joked of the hosting vacancy to The Ringer's Claire McNear. It was a reasonable proposal — and pretty funny to those in Green Bay. But by April 2021, not a single Packers fan around was laughing.

Trouble in Green Bay

Shortly before the 2021 NFL Draft, a number of high-profile insiders began circulating that Rodgers was far from happy with the situation in Green Bay. Rumors like these were commonplace around draft day, but given Rodgers recent history with the team, these whispers seemed to carry some weight.
